2023 Industrial Visit and Cultural Experience to Gangneung
KAIST GDI students visited Gangneung and gained various experiences. We visited the Gangneung Intelligent Traffic System Center (GITS Center) for the first time. Founded to operate and manage traffic in Gangneung, GITS is an important organization for smart cities. Here, various information collected inside the city, including CCTV, is shared in real-time. Students were able to learn about the autonomous driving system and experience autonomous cars.
Next, we visited the Olympic Park in Gangneung. Built for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, the park is currently a space for introducing various winter sports. We experienced various sports digitally here, including speed skating and hockey.
Finally, we visited Ojukheon, where Shin Saimdang was born. Shin Saimdang is the main character of Korea's 50,000 won bill. Students will be familiar with this place because they have learned it with Yulgok Yi in class. Students look around the Ojukheon which is more than 500 years and observe the characteristics of Korean traditional architecture.
For two days, We were able to have a beneficial and fun experience in Gangneung with all KAIST GDI members. We hope you will be interested in Korea's advanced technology and new culture.
