Industrial inspection of Naver and cultural tour of Korean Folk Village
On June 26th, students from KAIST GDI had the opportunity to visit Naver's 1784 facility and explore a futuristic office space guided by a tour guide. Naver is a leading global ICT company and operates Korea's largest search portal, Naver. The "1784 THE TESTBED" that we visited this time is Naver's new headquarters, serving as a massive testbed for constantly experimenting and challenging tech convergence platforms.

1784 encompasses various cutting-edge information and communication technology (ICT) capabilities such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital twins, autonomous driving, cloud, and 5th generation (5G) mobile communication. Among its many features, the service robot Rookie was designed to move between floors using a robot-exclusive elevator called ROBOPORT. The meticulously designed independent air conditioning and ventilation system for sanitation and work environments were also particularly impressive. This visit provided an opportunity to experience Naver's innovation in leading Korean IT technologies. It was an opportunity for many students to dream of the establishment of similar convergence platforms in their home country.

Afterward, we had the chance to visit the Korean Folk Village and explore Korean culture. Established in 1974, the Korean Folk Village is a comprehensive cultural tourism destination centered around traditional culture themes. It consists of real historical buildings and offers experiential exhibits and traditional craft experiences that preserve the traditional way of life. It was a special experience for the students to directly experience the past within the context of traditional culture.

Through this opportunity, we hope that the students will become closer to Korean traditional culture.
